Chandelier (Dressing)

During the performance, this chandelier swings over the audience, requiring full lightweight construction with safety as the top priority for all decorative elements.

The ornamental details and rib structures were reinforced using latex casting, while the lightweight crystals were made from vacuum thermoformed plastic to ensure both durability and reduced weight.

Since there were many material elements and model variations involved in the assembly, the supervisor asked me to create a dressing guide to help everyone work efficiently together.

Latex casting.
Using a little bit baby powder to prevent them from sticking together.

Adhesion and testing with aluminum structures.
The aluminum surface was sanded with steel wool before applying contact adhesive for bonding.
After adhesion, the pieces were wrapped tightly with aluminum foil and left to set overnight for a secure hold.

Paint testing with aluminum structures.
First, a layer of DMT paint was applied, followed by Golden acrylic paint. Finally, a mix of gold, brown acrylic paint, and sealer was used to adjust the tones, creating an antique bronze texture with a sponge.

After cutting the half-section thermo plastic crystal sheets, they were welded together to form a complete piece.
